You Left, I Stayed

We packed our lives in cardboard dreams,
side by side, a roaming team.
Through cities bright and towns unknown,
you were the closest thing to home.
But now the world has split our ways,
you left for school, I stayed, I stayed.
The house is quiet, halls feel wide,
no footsteps echo by my side.
Still, distance bends but does not break,
our bond’s a thread no time can shake.
So I will wait, though days feel long,
till we are laughing, back where we belong.
