New Places and Faces

Abby H.

Every year, a brand new school starts,

Holding onto memories, but leaving parts.

Faces change, the names unknown,

In every place, a new home.

New friends can be made, but just that fast,

The friends will fade into the past.

They try to fit, but slip away,

Like favorite shoes that just won’t stay.

A heart that hopes for roots to grow,

But every move means letting go.

And through it all, they find their way,

Stronger with each place they stay.
